Main areas of study: Modern German and European history, memory culture and nationalism research, history of ideas and science, history of violence in the 20th century, classical German philosophy (especially Kant, Hegel, Schelling), philosophy of science and political philosophy

Since 2011, Benedikt Müschenborn has been working as a lecturer in political education and the professional development of educational methods.

From October 2011 to September 2023, Benedikt Müschenborn was active in the “Europateam NRW” (formerly “Juniorteam NRW”) project of the State Agency for Civic Education of North Rhine-Westphalia. His main areas of focus were the implementation of European policy project days, the design and implementation of internal training courses, and the revision of project modules. From October 2019 to December 2020, Benedikt Müschenborn was also active in the project management of the “Europateam NRW” and contributed to the content design of the project.

Between April 2014 and March 2016, as well as October 2016 and September 2018, he worked as a tutor at the History Department of the Ruhr University Bochum. In 2015, he participated in the DAAD and EVZ-funded study projects “National Culture of Remembrance in Southeast Europe: The Case of Macedonia” and “Spaces of Remembrance: Official Representations of History and Individual Experiences in Western Ukraine in the 20th Century” (website: http://grenzraum.martin-opitz-bibliothek.de/).

Since 2013, Benedikt Müschenborn has also been working as a freelance editor and author for various clients.

CIVIC GmbH – Institute for International Education:

Since February 2019, he has been working in and on projects at the CIVIC Institute for International Education, focusing on political and civic simulation games and workshops on Europe and European policy issues.

Since December 2021, he has been the contact person and coordinator for simulation games and educational projects in Germany and for international partners, and is available to answer inquiries at any time.

Since September 2024, he has been working as head of political education.

Since spring 2025, he has also been project manager and one of the contact persons for the “EU-Jugendbotschafter@school” project on behalf of the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia.
