Nico Kellmann

Nico Kellmann focuses his studies intensively on the connection between political processes and societal communication. His main areas of interest include digital political campaigns, the analysis of media in social contexts, and the target-group-oriented communication of complex topics.

Since April 2024, he has been working as a student assistant at the CIVIC Institute. In this role, he facilitates workshops and simulation games on topics such as EU institutions and democracy promotion, placing particular emphasis on presenting political content in a clear and engaging way. His work ranges from simulation games on EU legislation and EU enlargement to scenario-based workshops and educational trips to the European institutions in Brussels, working with both school students and vocational trainees.

Since July 2026, he has also been working as a student research assistant at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) in Bonn. There, he supports research and development projects in the field of personal services occupations through literature research, the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, and the editorial preparation of publications and web content. Previously, he worked in the Education Division of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), where he contributed to the development of country-specific education strategies. He also gained practical editorial experience in the sports department of Seven.One Entertainment (ran/ProSiebenSat.1).

As part of a teaching-based research project, he also examined the role of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (Explainable AI) and its influence on public opinion formation.

His particular interest lies in the question of how political education can be designed sustainably through innovative formats, both analog and digital. With his creative and structured approach to work, he aims to contribute to communicating political and social issues in an accessible and engaging way.
