  • Bachelor’s degree in education for high and comprehensive school (German studies and social sciences) at the Technical University of Dortmund

After graduating from high school in 2023, Tommy Köhler completed a Federal Volunteer Service program in forest education, where he gained his first experience working with groups of children. In 2024 he began with his Bachelors degree in education in Dortmund. In addition to his studies, he is a scholarship recipient of the German Business Foundation and brings his pedagogical and organizational experience from several years of educational and youth work to his teaching practice.

Since 2022, he has been part of the project management team for the language support project “Sprache verbindet” (“Language Connects”) run by the Rotary Club of Letmathe-Hohenlimburg, which supports children with immigrant backgrounds in learning German, he is familiar with every aspect of the project, from direct student support to overall coordination. He also serves on the project management team at the “YOU” Youth Culture Café in Iserlohn, where he is responsible for planning and organizing events for young people. In addition, he volunteers as a talent mentor at the NRW Center for Talent Development, where he supports students on a volunteer basis with questions about college and scholarships.

He has been an EU Youth Ambassador since 2025 and remains active in this role, which is how he came to be involved with CIVIC.

His goal is to provide young people with access to education and participation, regardless of their background. He wants to encourage young people to find their own voice in social and political processes and to help them experience Europe as something that affects their daily lives and that they can shape.
