Lena Katzek originally comes from the field of theatre education. Alongside her studies in Cultural Education, she worked in theatre education institutions in Cologne, Bonn, and Dublin.
From 2020 to 2025, Lena Katzek worked for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. As a seminar coordinator, she was primarily responsible for organizing educational visits to memorial sites, including Kraków/Auschwitz, Weimar/Buchenwald, and Munich/Dachau. Her work also included local educational programs on the remembrance of National Socialism. In this role, she accompanied school groups to workshops organized by Zweitzeugen e. V. ("Second Witnesses") and to visits to regional memorial sites. Another key area of her work focused on European Union education, including educational trips to Brussels and various events on European politics.
Since 2025, she has been working for the CIVIC Institute. Her main responsibilities include facilitating simulations, workshops, and educational programs on the European Union and EU policy. Additional areas of focus include anti-discrimination education and critical engagement with Europe's colonial past. At the CIVIC Institute, she works in both school-based education and adult education.
